Day 14: 2 Week Pediatrician Visit
At Lottie’s 2 week check in she gained 1 lb! She’s up to 8.12 – Mama’s got milkshakes! She eats constantly and is quickly growing which is great news for us. The doc said since Lottie is gaining weight we don’t have to wake her up every 2 – 3 hours at night. Now we let her go 5 – 6 hours if she wants to, but she still wakes up usually around 4 hours in the evening. I am definitely not complaining about my sleep – I of course feel like I am running on little sleep, but compared to other parents out there I feel like Lottie treats us pretty good at night so far!
The Lactation meeting was helpful, except most of the women there all had troubles with not enough milk – and I needed tips on too much milk. I did feel good about weaning Lottie from the shield after the meeting and made it a goal that week to focus on getting a good latch and getting rid of our shield!
She is starting to be more awake this week. Her eyes are opening more and she is becoming more alert every day. I don’t care about any milestone in terms of when she walks or talks… I can’t wait for the day she looks at me and smiles… really smiles (not the I just pooped my pants smile).
The other day Lottie had her first spit up on me… today Lottie pooped all over me. The pediatrician had checked under her diaper duirng the visit and failed to tighten the diaper when she put it back on. Before we could change it I was feeding her on the couch and kaboom… poop went all over me, all over the couch and all over Lottie. Josh swooped in to save the day and help me get us cleaned up.
